Absently walking through leaves
covered in dirt and the worms that live there
I fell asleep counting out these worms
And woke up in a dark arcade, everyone had gone home

Things have really gotten quite strange
The tiger's been declawed but given a bone to chew on
But I don't think that it's the same
I think children are getting smaller
I think the sun is getting hotter
I'll miss the polar bears when they're gone
Though I don't think I've ever seen one
In the wild

I spent the winter sleeping in palms
watching the red sun, cooking bark I read by the northern lights
Your hand, its lights, the veins and I boiled out a little fortune that read:

"Everything was made for you to hold,
You will die with your pants down
Beneath the sun and drying river
Swollen hands, sunken scripture
There'll be nothing left for you to hold"

I placed it on a catholic leaflet, I took the stack from the pastor
who was handing them out
I went home, made a papier-mâché skull
And hung it from the ceiling and watched it dance around
Till I fell back asleep
